Career & Life Experience
Shirleen was born in Cape Town and is married to Emilio, with 2 children,
Marco and Larissa.
Shirleen left the corporate business sector in September 2005,
as a Regional Sales & Services Coach in the banking sector,
to fulfill her ambition to inspire growth in performance & learning
of individuals and teams, through using Executive and Life Coaching.
She is co-founder and currently the Managing Director of HeartLinc,
an Executive and Life coaching business. Her key to success with
improved performance and learning is through building a strong link
between personal effectiveness and business results. She has been
recognized for challenging the status quo, motivating others to
grow their capabilities and succeed, and coaching those who are
ready to face challenges in their work and personal lives.
One of the greatest life experiences for Shirleen was when she
and her 2 children accompanied her husband on a work assignment
in Surrey, UK for a period of 3.5 years (1999 – 2002). In
maintaining a healthy work-life balance, she engaged into many different
employment ventures. She developed her skills by starting a network
marketing business for wellness products, developing and leading
telemarketing campaigns for various clients, developing new business
opportunities and facilitation of direct sales for an IT Solutions
company.
The foundation, practice and enthusiasm for her role as a coach
is grounded in her 11 year career with South African Airways, as
a Cabin Crew member and team leader, serving passengers of diverse
needs. Key achievements during this time, was mastering the ability
to achieve sustained customer service excellence with her crew.
She motivated her teams through role-modeling and 1-to-1 coaching,
always aiming to share key points of learning which would improve
their service offering. She was well known for her high service
standards and performance by her customers and peers. Every flight
was used as a new learning opportunity for personal growth for her
team, and to ensure their customers were always satisfied.
Shirleen is excited about the opportunity to develop entrepreneurs,
through her recent selection as the Life Coach in a panel of 3 coaches,
for the “Momentum-Circle
of Success” initiative. This promotion will be featured
in the “O-magazine”, over 9 months and has started,
in the February 2006 edition.
Academic
She completed her academic qualifications studying part-time,
by graduating from the University of the Western Cape with a Bachelor
of Commerce degree, with majors in Economics and Industrial Psychology.
To fulfill her belief in continuous learning, she is currently studying
towards her Honours Degree in Industrial Psychology.
To develop her coaching skills further, Shirleen has attended various
accredited coaching programmes, through the Education Training and
Development, Services and Bank Seta and has built a professional
foundation in Coaching, Mentoring, Facilitation and Skills Development.
Whilst living in the UK she attended, as an apprentice, several
programmes, offering coaching to Executives, in work life balance
techniques. She is a member of the Institute of HeartMath, the International
Coach Federation as well as the Coaching and Mentoring Association
in South Africa (COMENSA).
Shirleen has obtained her Associate Coaching Certificate (ACC),
an accredited international coaching qualification at the UCT Graduate
School of Business in 2006 and has already started to work as an
associate coaching and mentoring people as part of a team of expert
coaches for Standard Bank.
Unique qualities
As
part of her social commitment, Shirleen is offering a 1-day
leadership workshop for females. She plays the clarinet and
piano on a social basis, enjoys dancing and is also a keen golfer.
Shirleen’s travels and living abroad, was the catalyst for
her development of a wide multicultural and globally diverse perspective
of life and business. This is the foundation of her practical insights
into personal leadership development, for individuals and teams,
as a lever to close the performance gaps in businesses today.
Shirleen has experienced the opportunity to develop entrepreneurs,
through her selection as the Life Coach in a panel of 3 coaches,
for the “Momentum-Circle of Success” initiative. This
promotion is featured in the “O-magazine”, over 12 months
and has started, in the February 2006 edition. In October 2006,
